The Wedge appoints new editor
Beginning with this month’s issue, LHENA has hired Wedge resident Quinton
Skinner as the new editor of The Wedge newspaper.
Skinner is a fifteen-year resident of the Wedge, living in a
100-year-old house on Dupont Avenue South. His wife, Sarah
Walter, is a Hennepin County Public Defender. His two
children both attend Jefferson Community School.
“I’m excited about this opportunity to edit a community
paper in a neighborhood that I love,” Skinner says. “My goals,
after tackling all the logistics involved, are to really sharpen
the paper’s focus on this always lively and diverse slice of
urban living. I’ve lived in a number of places over the years,
and the Wedge has come to define what I think of as home.”
Skinner grew up in Ohio, lived in Northern and Southern
California, and then the Boston area. He moved to
Minneapolis in the mid-1990s. He is the author of the novels
Amnesia Nights and 14 Degrees Below Zero (both set, in part,
in the Wedge). He currently writes theater criticism for City
Pages, as well as other local publications.
“I suppose setting both of my novels here attests to my
affection for the area,” Skinner adds. “And for both of my
children, this is the only home they’ve known. Delving into
the history of this community, while helping document its
ongoing progress and future—now that’s going to be a lot of
work. And a lot of fun.”
